
John J. Reilly (Google Scholar Profile) is Professor of Physical Activity & Public Health at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. He was previously Professor of Paediatric Energy Metabolism at the University of Glasgow. His research and knowledge exchange work focuses on (a) the causes, consequences, and public health surveillance of obesity in children and adolescents globally and (b) the causes, consequences, and public health surveillance of low physical activity in children and adolescents globally He contributes to national and international (e.g. WHO) strategies and guidelines on the identification/diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of child and adolescent obesity. Current projects include: (1) SUNRISE International Surveillance Study of Movement Behaviours (Physical Activity, Sedentary Behaviour, Sleep) in 3-4 Year Olds in many countries including Malawi and Tanzania; (2) Development and validation of an app-based questionnaire (GAC-PAQ) for measurement of physical activity in school-age children and adolescents globally; (3) Nutrition and Health in Arab Adolescents (NaHAR)- redefining obesity based on cardiometabolic risk.
